[z]ostańce / 2016
Ostańce in Polish are old tenement houses which survived the World War II. More than 80% of buildings were destroyed in Warsaw in that period. Nowadays, the rescued ones are being devastated, especially at Wola district. The problem often results from the lack of money or unclear ownership status. The houses become graves. Some politicians want to see Wola as a new bussiness district. They don't care either about the inhabitants or the old buildings. As young Warsaw's enthusiasts, we decided to protest against this state of affairs. The main part of project is a mobile wayside shrine, which travels through the streets of Warsaw. It's similar to the ones you can still see at the city's typical backyards. Every shrine is made to protect the people living in the building. Our object is made to protect the buildings.

[z]ostańce to akcja, która zwraca uwagę na problem wyburzania przedwojennej tkanki miejskiej na warszawskiej Woli. Projekt obejmuje szereg działań w przestrzeni publicznej z udziałem kapliczki. Nawiązuje ona do tych, które miały chronić kamienice i ich mieszkańców. W naszej kapliczce znajduje się kawałek gruzu pozostały po jednej z kamienic. Chcemy pokazać, że miejsca będące świadkami historii powinny być dla nas świętością. Kapliczka podróżuje po dzielnicy, nawiedzając stare budynki i nowoczesne wieżowce powstałe na ich miejscu.
